Mucopolysaccharidoses

Mucopolysaccharidosis refers to group of 11 distinct genetic disorders which is known as Lysosomal Storage Disorders, in which the body fails to break down Mucopolysaccharides (Glycosaminoglycan – Long Chain sugar molecules found throughout the body). As a result, these sugars build-up in cells, blood and connective tissue which can lead to multiple health problems.

Most of the health problems caused are, stunting the growth and the development of the person, dwarfism, dysplasia (change in the shape and size of the bone), spinal cord and tracheal defects, skin roughness, enlarged nasal bridge, mouth and tongue, and cardiac valve disease.
